Thursday's In the Truth: Lord, I Need You

I have been trying to figure out words to write today.  My heart is broken for so many women who are hurting, sad, lonely, angry and overwhelmed.
About two years ago, I asked the following question on Facebook, “Name one word to describe the hearts of women.”  The answers included: nurture, bold, strong, hormonal, conflicted, bruised, lonely, tired, malnourished, longing, heavy, divided, empty.”  To this day, I have the answers hanging by my desk and I look at it often.
I was looking at it the other day, and realized those answers haven’t really changed but one seems to be standing out more than any other: lonely.  We were created for relationships.  God wants us to be in relationship with Him and others.  We were not created to live this life on our own.  Chris Tomlin said, “The deepest part of you, the secret place, the depths of your heart long to be connect to God.  Nothing else can satisfy you.”
As I have been praying for and thinking of so many, this song just keeps coming to my mind and I think it is all we need to hear today:

"Lord, I Need You"
Lord, I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You're the One that guides my heart

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are, Lord, I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You
Jesus, You're my hope and stay

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

You're my one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
